Olimpia Milano - Real Madrid
* Anthony Randolph is an amazing player. Sometimes he seems a bit lost, as if he is still not getting the offensive system of his team. However, lost or not, he had another great game with 20 points and 14 boards. Most of them due to his athleticism and phenomenal abilities. And also a winner attitude: When Milano made their comeback in the last quarter, he was not hesitating to take responsibility. Milano was not able to stop Europe's best forguard, who did everything on the court in the money time.

* Speaking of Real's offensive system, Laso likes to make screens to the guards, who then get the ball at 45 degrees to the basket on the arch. The screen earns them a free second to release the ball. With shooters like Carroll, Lull and Frenandez that is all you really need.
* While the European teams tend to play small ball excessively the last years, Real shows a different approach. Having in the squad 6 talented big men, they play often with very tall formations. Today they played for some minutes with Maciulis as a SF and Fernandez as s SG.
* Zoran Dragic is in an horrible shape. Kalnietis, despite having a great campaign this summer in the olympics with Lithuania, has not fully recovered from his pre-season injury. That leaves Milano just with Hickman as a playmaker. He is a good player, but Milano's dependency on him is one of their biggest weaknesses. Hickman plays very well in open court, but he is not a classic PG for a half court offense. Milano's offence game, as a result, is too sloppy.
* Alessandro Gentile missed so far all of his free throws and 3 pointers in the Eurolague (0/6 from each range). Just saying.
Baskonia - Olympiacos
* Erick Green did his own "Anthony Randolph" in the Fernando Buesa Arena. For three quarters he was non existing, just to take responsibility in the money time. Depite Spanoulis' 15 points and 15 assists game, Green took the ball in the money time. He won the game for Olympiacos with 13 points in the last quarter, including one crucial points when he made a 4 point possession. And just like Randolph, he made his points with pure skills.

* As I wrote two months ago, Shane Larkin and the European basketball is a hell of match. The talented guard has 11 assists tonight, 7 of them in the first 15 minutes. And all that with just 1 turnover. By the way, Larking passed 57% of his team's assists. Spanoulis was responsible for 75% (!) of Olyimpiacos' assists.
* Some European players return better after playing for several years in the NBA. Some don't. Papanikolaou for example. Statistically, he had a solid game with 15 points and 15 PIR. But something is missing in his game. Papanikolaou of 3 years ago was much more dominant and had more positive influence on the game.
